Data collected by volunteers are used to assess plant population trends for state and national conservation efforts. Survey techniques include: estimating large plant populations\, assessing habitat condition\, and using GPS to locate and mark rare plant populations. Basic plant ID is NOT provided. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening with Greg DuBois of the Illinois Audubon Society in celebration of the Brew City Bird Fest. Greg will give a brief history of coffee consumption and production and explain how each of us can protect our migratory birds through the Smithsonian Bird Friendly certified coffee and cocoa program. Greg leads birding tours and does bird population monitoring for the U.S. Forest Service at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie located 60 miles south of Chicago. \nThis event is sponsored by Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society and Wehr Birders. The program starts at 7:00 pm. Weather permitting\, we will have a bird walk around the Nature Center starting at 5:45 with snacks and samples of bird-friendly coffee before the presentation. \nThe event is free\, but pre-registration is required.
