DESCRIPTION:Birders of all ages and abilities are welcome at a “Big Sit” bird count hosted by Wisconsin Metro Audubon to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. Experienced birders will be stationed at Wehr’s wetland pier\, so stop by to join us and see our species tally. \nNo fee or registration; a $5 parking fee applies to non-members.

SUMMARY:Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society
DESCRIPTION:Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society (WMAS) is a chapter of the National Audubon Society that encourages environmental stewardship through education and conservation. WMAS collaborates with Wehr to offer birding opportunities such as the Christmas Bird Count\, The Big Sit\, and leads the weekly Wehr Birders group. Public programs are held on the third Wednesday\, February to April and September to November from 7-9 pm. \nThis month’s topic:  \nGreener\, Healthier Schools with Justin Hegarty\, Executive Director of Reflo \nRefloh2o is a non-profit organization with a mission to catalyze sustainable water use\, green infrastructure\, and equitable water resource management to protect the Great Lakes. \nJustin Hegarty\, P.E.\, LEED A.P.\, is an environmental engineer and executive director of the Milwaukee area nonprofit Reflo. Justin will share the great success for over 10 years at Reflo that has co-created community-supported green infrastructure projects that have leveraged over $24 million\, planted 3\,776 trees\, established 217\,000 square feet of native habitat\, removed 13 acres of urban asphalt\, and improved the daily lives of over 17\,000 people–while managing 2.4 million gallons of stormwater every time it rains.
