SUMMARY:Wild Ones Milwaukee Southwest/Wehr
DESCRIPTION:Wild Ones is the only national organization promoting the use of native plants in natural landscaping to promote a healthy biodiverse landscape. Our own Wehr chapter meets year-round to share their passion and knowledge of native landscaping with each other and the public. Members host tours of their naturally landscaped yards\, do seed collecting\, take field trips to local natural areas and offer educational programs to the public. Programs the second Saturday of the month from October through April offer presentations on native plant landscape design; woodland\, prairie\, wetland and savanna plant communities; native plant support of wildlife and native plant propagation and much more. These meeting are open to the public at no charge. (The Wehr Nature Center charges a small parking fee).

SUMMARY:Operation Recon Nature - Veterans and Families
DESCRIPTION:Veterans from all service branches – Active Duty\, Reserve\, and Retired\, and their families or Battle Buddies are invited to attend monthly walks held here at Wehr Nature Center. For approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours\, we will explore trails to share camaraderie and experience seasonal nature happenings. \nFree\, but pre-registration is required. Accessible options available; contact holly.walz@milwaukeecountywi.gov or by phone at 414-425-8550. \n A 21+ event with wine\, beer\, and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks provided. \nFees: $20 per person; $17 for Milwaukee County residents; $15 for Friends of Wehr members \nOnline registration is required two days before the program.
