SUMMARY:Bird Friendly Coffee - Conserving Birds One Cup at a Time
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening with Greg DuBois of the Illinois Audubon Society in celebration of the Brew City Bird Fest. Greg will give a brief history of coffee consumption and production and explain how each of us can protect our migratory birds through the Smithsonian Bird Friendly certified coffee and cocoa program. Greg leads birding tours and does bird population monitoring for the U.S. Forest Service at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie located 60 miles south of Chicago. \nThis event is sponsored by Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society and Wehr Birders. The program starts at 7:00 pm. Weather permitting\, we will have a bird walk around the Nature Center starting at 5:45 with snacks and samples of bird-friendly coffee before the presentation. \nThe event is free\, but pre-registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Beginners and experienced birdwatchers and birders alike are invited to come and learn to identify birds by their songs and calls. We’ll use ornithologist tips and tricks from the field to learn 10-ish species and test new skills with live birds on the trails. \nFees: $20 per person; $17 for Milwaukee County residents; $15 for Friends of Wehr Members; $5 parking fee applies for non-Friends of Wehr members \nReservations guarantee a space.
