DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in becoming a volunteer Bumble Bee Monitor for Milwaukee County? Attend this free workshop to become one today! Wisconsin is home to 20 species of native bumblebees\, many of which live here in Milwaukee\, including the federally endangered rusty-patched bumble bee). Monitors help gather data on bumble bees in natural areas around the county using their smartphone or camera. DESCRIPTION:This event has been CANCELED. Please ask at the front desk for a pollinator scavenger hunt and craft if you are interested in a take-home. \nWant to explore nature with your children but don’t know how to get started? Stop in for a “pop-up” program with a nature expert to get your adventure on! There will be a seasonal naturalist led activity at each session from 1-1:30\, followed by self-guided activities you can enjoy with your family at your own pace. We provide the tools and know how\, you supply the curiosity. Each program has a different theme\, so make plans to join us all year! \nJune 8th\, 2024\, Pop Up Nature: Pollinator Power: Join us as we celebrate nature’s superheroes\, the pollinators\, during National Pollinator Week.  Together we will find out what pollination is\, how pollination happens\, and what the superhero duties of a pollinator are.We will read the story “Flower Talk: How Plants Use Color to Communicate\,” written by Sara Levine and illustrated by Masha D’yans. We will also provide a hands-on activity\, craft\, along with a pollinator scavenger hunt for your self-guided hike. \nRecommended for Ages 5 and older. \nFee: $7 per family; $5 per family for Friends of Wehr members \nAdditional $5 parking fee for non-members
