Experience health and wellness, both physically and mentally at Wehr. Get outside with us on one of our ongoing monthly programs designed for adults and specific audiences. It is widely understood that being outside strengthens our immune system, aids in memory and learning, increases energy, lowers blood pressure and reduces stress. Even better, these programs will provide a sense of community, a sense of place to leave you feeling renewed and restored.
Operation Recon Nature
Hike Series for Veterans and their families
Veterans from all branches of service – Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired personnel and their families are invited to attend monthly hikes held at Wehr Nature Center. Join a guided naturalist as we take fun experiential hikes on the trails of Wehr Nature Center to stretch our legs and observe seasonal nature happenings.
Hikes specific to veterans and veterans and their families are typically held the final Friday and Saturday of every month. Contact Veterans Liason, Holly Walz with questions.
SPARK!
Cultural Programming for People with Memory Loss and their Care-partner
SPARK! programs programs feature interactive nature experiences in a welcoming environment. Specialty trained educators and volunteers engage participants in lively discussions, nature object-handling, and other multi-sensory activities.
This monthly program is offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required. If you are interested in learning more about our SPARK! program, please email Access & Inclusion Coordinator, Emily Brown.

Guided Forest Bathing
Age Group: 18+
Unplug, slow down, and de-stress from your daily routine. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, a certified forest bathing guide will lead you through sensory-based invitations designed to relax, restore, and deepen your relationship with the natural world. The class ends with tea (provided) to awaken your senses and leave you feeling a sense of peace and calm.
Birding Program
All levels of experience
Bird enthusiasts, can you identify birds by sight? Are you interested in expanding your birding skills? Beginner and experienced birdwatchers and birders alike are invited to come learn to identify birds by their songs and calls.

Adult Workshops
From cooking to crafting, the Wehr Naturally Series pulls the connection to nature into creative workshops. This series is hosted by Friends of Wehr and directly supports their mission.

Adult Programming
Bring in one of our experts for your next meeting or gathering. Let Wehr bring nature to your club, organization, or association. Interesting and lively presentations topics include: bees, bats, owls, moths, hummingbirds and butterflies.
